PC Rob

PC Rob regularly comes into school to talk to us about his role in the community.  We always enjoy listening and asking him lots of questions

.

As part of our Mad Maths topic we walked around Maesycoed taking photographs of all the different shapes we could spot in our environment.  We noticed all the different types of road signs that we have in the locality and all the shapes that are in buildings all around us.

Science Week

During Science Week we visited the Historical Centre to take part in a K'nex workshop.  We made books about minibeasts on the iPads and made our minibeasts out of K'nex.  Our books included labelled diagrams, fun facts and a video about how to make a minibeast.  We had great fun!

Our Library Visit

We love walking to Pontypridd Library.  We chose lots of books to read back in the classroom.  Whilst we were in the Library Mrs Sheppeard and Mrs Pugh read us a story.  We really enjoyed listening to it, even the teddies enjoyed it too. We are looking forward to reading the books back in school.

Travel Agents

Our role play area this term has been changed to the Travel Agents.  We walked to Thomas Cook to find out about the jobs they do.  We saw customers changing money into Euros and we also booked holidays on the computer. We looked at holiday brochures and dreamed of far away lands. Lots of people came in to the shop to book holidays and change money.  We can now book our own holidays back in school just like they do in Thomas Cook.

Italy

As we were exploring different countries as part of our topic, we explored Italy.  We looked at different traditions and foods. The children decided they wanted to make pizza.  They chose their own toppings for the pizza and said they tasted delicious.

Science Week

As part of our Science Week we explored floating and sinking.  We made boats out of plasticine and investigated which shapes floated the best. It was quite tricky but we managed to make some of the boats float.
