Festive Fun

We had a fabulous time in our Christmas Party with Mrs Dyas's and Miss Davies's class playing games and dancing. We then went to refuel ourselves with lovely party food and use all of our energy afterwards playing more games in the middle block hall. Take a look at all of us having lots of Christmas fun in our photos.

PC Rob Thomas

PC Rob came in to school to speak to the children about the role of the Police in the community.

Royal Replies

As part of our R.E. week the children in Year One learnt all about Baptisms and the christening of Prince George. As part of our topic, we sent congratulation cards to Prince George and his family to celebrate his birth and his Christening. We went on a walk to the post box to post our letters to Buckingham Palace. We were astounded when every child received a sealed envelope from Buckingham Palace with a picture of the royal baby to thank us for the kind cards we had created. Mrs Sheppeard and Miss Davies were also very excited to receive thank you letters.

Mmmmm Crumble

We have been looking at Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and as part of the story has a poisonous apple we thought it would be nice to make an apple crumble that wouldn't make us fall asleep.  We looked at the type of apples we were going to use and then we made our crumble topping.  We used flour, butter and sugar and rubbed it together so it was crumbly.  We put it on top of our cooked apples and cooked it in the oven.  It was very tasty and we didn't fall asleep.

Pied Pipers

The children enjoyed playing the recorder and pretending they were the Pied Piper.  Everybody played a tune and danced around the playground. We had a a lot of fun and thankfully there were no rats in school to follow us.

Our Castle Trip

We had a fabulous day in Castell Coch and Caerphilly Castle, we pretended to be Princes and Princess's as well as Kings, Queens and Knights. We enjoyed the siege engines and thought the wooden lady was doing a good job holding the castle tower up! We then went back to school and tried to make our own castles, what do think of them?

Pottery Gardens!

Miss Croft, our pottery teacher has helped us create beautiful garden scenes.
We are delighted now they are finished.
We had lots of fun sculpting and creating our gardens then painting them.

We have been exploring capacity!

We found containers that held 1/2 litre and 1 litre in capacity. We explored and found containers that held more or less than 1/2 or 1 litre.
We used a measuring jug and found out how many millilitres different containers had.
Even though we got a little wet it was a lot of fun!

Science Week

During Science Week we performed many experiments. We enjoyed experimenting with circuits.  We made electrical circuits using batteries/bulbs and wires. We then experimented with paper clips/paper fasteners and card to create a switch so the circuit could be turned on and off.
